Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
