Aryna Sabalenka ended the tour with an outstanding twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record. World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season. The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship. A Season of High Performance Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year. This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015. Historic Numbers Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in earnings. She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists. Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level". Other WTA Award Honorees Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break following the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season. Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
