Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
